Why Am I Having So Much Trouble Finding People To Photograph?

Since September my entire life has been photography. What I’ve been trying to do since mid-October is find people to do photo shoots with so I can go through the shoots and select the best picture from each shoot to make a portfolio of at least 20 pictures. I signed up for Model Mayhem back in October but it has yet to really do anything beneficial with this problem I’m having. I encourage people to bring an escort with them so they feel more comfortable. I always state that as far as the outfit goes they can wear whatever they would really like to be shot in. I don’t ask them to wear anything skimpy or revealing. The only circumstances I even talk about that with them is if THEY bring up that they want to be photographed in something like lingerie or a swimsuit etc. etc. Because I’m just getting into this I make it very clear on my profile and even when I ask people I know personally that I’m looking to do TF work typically I give them a CD of the shoot pictures. Since I started this I’ve done two shoots both with girls who had never modeled before and the girl who does hair and make up for me told them if they modeled for me she’d cut and do their hair for free and do their make up for free. I’m to the point where I’m about ready to sell the Nikon D7000 I don’t use to get money to offer pay for letting me photograph people. This is a huge passion of mine and I just invested in a professional studio strobe lighting kit that cost me thousands of dollars with all the modifiers and everything…. I realize it isn’t the equipment that makes the photographer too. Which is why I have really dedicated myself to reading every book I can get my hands on and applying what I read. I’m constantly reading and learning anything I can find whether it’s books, ebooks, articles, videos, etc. etc. I looked into taking classes at the local community college here hoping that I would meet some people there to photograph but all the classes were full for the next quarter. I just have no idea what I’m doing wrong or what I’m NOT doing. Also I tallied up how many different people I would’ve done photo shoots with if a lot of people hadn’t just no showed on me or backed out right before we were scheduled to shoot and I got 29….since basically the end of October…. I’ve done TWO photo shoots out of those 29….. What is going on?
