sort of an embarrassing question?

but do external hemorrhoids always hurt? my perineum seems to be sort of swollen, its not red or irritated looking, and only really hurts when I wipe after using the toilet, and even then only for a second. I am 36 weeks pregnant so I know all sorts of unpleasant things can go on down there, lol. I just wasn’t sure if this was a hemorrhoid or just irritation (have been having more frequent BMs lately too)
