I don\’t know how to make out!?

Okay so me and my boyfriend KISS a lot.. Like a few little pecks here and there.. But just now we tried to make out.. As soon as we did, he kinda pulled away. I asked if I was bad, he just said I needed some experience. So now I feel a little bad.. He is my first boyfriend and he has had a few other partners in the past.. I’m just afraid I’m not gonna be a good enough kisser.. How can I try and improve this?
