GUYS: Boyfriends behavior is confusing me?

I’ve been with my boyfriend for 7months and everything seemed to be going good until recently. I feel like I’m the one who wants to have sex, like who is always initiating it. Like he acts like he doesn’t want to do it sometimes either because he says he’s tired or needs to sleep/wake up early. I’m wondering if i’m looking too much into this, and he really is just tired, that maybe i’m smothering him and need to calm myself or hormones down. Also his affection level is a problem with me, he rarely tells me he misses me, and he hasn’t said he loved me yet (which is ok, i know that comes on his own time when he’s ready) but like i asked him yesterday if he ever misses me and he said yes. And then I asked him why he doesn’t tell me and he said he doesn’t know why. He said he’ll feel like he misses me but stops himself from telling me. When I asked him why, he said he doesn’t know why and that’s just how he is. Is his behavior normal for a guy and should I back off a little? Give him some space?
He’s not the cheating type, i know that much…we were good friends for about 4yrs prior to us dating so i know him fairly well
