Why do soldiers carry folding knives?

Why do soldiers carry folding knives?
Why do soldiers carry one or more folding knives when a fix blade is already equipped? Wouldn’t it adds weight, and aren’t fix blades more versatile than folding knives?
Thanks!
Equipped means times during a mission and deployment period.
And I am no boy scout nor someone who serves in the armed force, this question is purely due to my curiosity.

What do you think of this fantasy story idea of mine?

What do you think of this fantasy story idea of mine?
It takes place in the real world, on a lost and well-hidden island called Quiveria.
Quiveria is a Patriarchal Pentarch Monarchy, ruled by a party of five; the King, the General, the Prime Minister, the Archpriest, and the High Judge.
Quiverian society is megalomanical and dominating; it does fights with swords, spears, catapults, arrows, blow darts, rifles, revolvers, flintlocks, canons, tomahawks, daggers, survival knives, bullwhips, and slingshots. Basically, Quiveria is so obsessed with history that they dress themselves up as historical pioneers, pilgrims, soldiers etc. with a touch of anachronism, and also adding their patriarchal feel to it.
Quiverians practice a rustic form of Medieval Christianity along with Fertility worship and Warrior worship. Their church is called the Ministerium, and they services every Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. It teaches that having multiple children is a blessing a sign of fortune, and also a way to dominate the world.
However, the Quiverian children do not have it easy; they are forbidden to play with each other (unless related by blood), they are either strictly home-schooled or educated in the Providence House (but forbidden to talk to each other), they are given many chores and projects with very little time to play but no sports. They are not allowed to date or go alone at night, they are too remain in their parent’s house until the parent finds them a husband/bride. Boys are taught manliness from their Dads, Girls are taught femininity from their Mothers. The Parents and Elders “train” their children instead of raising them. They want them to be proselytizers, leaders, breeding stocks and involved in politics.
If the children are disobedient, rebellious or unruly, they are beaten with belts and sticks, but if they are even more troubled, they are sent to Madame Pearl’s Child-Saving Detention Home where they be heavily monitored and disciplined. Madame Pearl is known as the ‘Child-Savor’ with her birch rod, lollipops, flowering apron and powered face.
The story is about a family of five who get lost on the island, and their children taken away from them and adopted by big families and are indoctrinated into their culture. The Parents must stop the people, save their children and other children, and rid Quiveria from their tyrannical rulers.
Inspirations; Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the Quiverfull movement, and the Duggars from 19 kids and counting.
Minnesota knife carry laws; What can I carry?

Minnesota knife carry laws; What can I carry?
I’ve looked into it in the past, and learned that with parental consent, a minor can carry a knife (I’m sixteen).
But I’m sort of wondering about this because I want a big ol’ fixed blade knife (like a Bowie) at my ankle in a sheath wrapped around my boot. Now, would I need a concealed carry license to carry a fixed-blade knife, or could I do so without one? Like, let’s say I wanted to carry an 8″ Ka-Bar with me in the breast of my jacket. Would I need a CCW to do so?
I need a good all around knife any ideas?

I need a good all around knife any ideas?
I am moving to Idaho and i want a good quality all around knife. I want it to have a legal blade length to carry in the city a good grip handle large enough to get the job done on anything from cutting boxes to hunting, but small enough to shove in my pocket and not have people staring at me a good handle
i have been looking at the tactical knifes with the window puncher and belt cutter but am not sure if i want a folder or a fixed blade and a good locking plastic sheath that can get wet when we are out hunting and boating so an all around good knife
here are some examples i am looking at and if you know any like it please tell me

so what i am trying to say is if you think these are good tell me which one or if you know of a better one
P.S. i would like it semi cheap unless it is a really good knife (the custom on i have i really like but don’t know if i can afford
P.S.S from the rules i have seen i think assisted opening knifes are illegal and the blade
length Maximum is 3.5inches correct me if i am wrong
2 year old terrified of me !?

2 year old terrified of me !?
My little sister, who is 2 years old is absolutely terrified of me. Today when she got home from the baby sitter’s she was alright. I was working on a 3d house model for my construction class, and i was cutting foam board(for the walls) with my utility-knife. She watched me for like a minute. Then my mother gave her strawberries, and she saw all the red strawberry-juice stains on her hands and sleeves. She got really scared, covered her hands under her sleeves and ran away from the table. Then she was screaming and crying in horror-like terror. She obviously thought i cut her, im sure thats what her mind processed. She’s even scared of my 3d project. (tears runnin down my face right now :*( .)–The way she tightly clenched onto my moms arms, shaking and trying to get away from me, and trying to hide behind my moms back.
She seemed fine later with me. She was even playing with me and being her happy little self.
But she had another ‘ episode’ again later .
This is really emotionally hard on me, because of the way she rejects me. I’m her favorite brother, she trusts me and even feels safe and protected by me.
To just suddenly go from that to this is making me feel like she wont ever see me like that, and hate me you know…I can’t live without her.
What can we do, PLEASE, to find a solution. I want her to love me again. … is this normal stage thing in child development…
